New waves of technologies are transforming not only the way products are produced and packaged, but manufacturing facilities as a whole. Flexibility and connectivity are the names of the game when it comes to equipment, and that’s certainly the case for conveyors.

Conveyors today have become integral components in all phases of the automation, assembly and industrial markets. And while some of the dominant global brands have been the early adopters to embracing the full potential of conveyors, more companies of all sizes are taking a closer look at how they too can better integrate conveyor systems to ultimately improve the entire line.

Powered Side Guide Highlighted on Dorner’s SmartFlex Conveyor with FlexMove Technology

Dorner recently worked with a customer who needed to convey small plastic bottles. The solution required a number of different transfers from conveyors and other machinery.

While there are many different ways to handle bottle transfers from one conveyor to the next, often times the solution relies on product back-pressure to lessen the chance of the transferring bottle falling forward and on its side.

Sanitary Conveyor System from Dorner Helps Wisconsin Cheese Packer Improve Ergonomics and Packaging Efficiencies

Who knew that a few inches at work could make all the difference?

It may not seem like a lot, but for employees packaging cheese on a tray line at Alpine Slicing & Cheese Conversion, those few inches were noticeable from the repetitive motion of reaching out and grabbing packaged cheese trays. Recirculating Conveyor for Small Parts - Video

In a recent application, a customer was looking to move small parts into a single file line so that a robot could pick the parts up one at a time and move them to the next machine.

The customer will manually dump the parts onto this recirculating conveyor, a system using two conveyors moving in opposite directions and a piece of guiding to direct parts towards an opening where they enter single file. A recirculating conveyor was used because it allows the product to accumulate while reducing back pressure and product damage and help prevent product jams.
