USDA Recertifies Dorner’s AquaPruf® 7400 Ultimate Series Conveyor

The United States Department of Agriculture has recertified Dorner Manufacturing’s AquaPruf® 7400 Ultimate Series conveyor platform for meeting all the necessary hygiene requirements for the design of mechanical belt conveyors used in meat and poultry processing, as outlined in NSF/ANSI/3-A 114159-3-2010.

Preventative Maintenance for Sanitary Conveyors

Conveyors generally have a good reputation of performance, i.e. plugging them in and letting them run. But this perception can lull plant operators into a false sense of security. While most sanitary conveyors today are extremely well built and don't require much attention, they still need to be maintained for optimal performance.

Take a look at your food processing or packaging lines, and consider how production would be affected if one or more of the supporting conveyors went down for maintenance. Downtime can lead to product spoilage, delays in production and cost a company thousands of dollars.

Fortunately, that scenario can largely be avoided by performing routine preventative maintenance on your conveyor system. A proper preventative maintenance program for sanitary conveyors will keep them running well, extend their life span and reduce costs. The key to success is to first create one.

Make Unique Belting Work for You

With produce that is harvested for processing, there is often dirt and other debris that goes along for the ride. Our customer for this conveyor hand picks their produce and places them into trays. They needed a way to separate the debris from the product as early in the process as possible.  

Recognizing that mud, dirt, straw, and stones could be picked with the produce, they needed a conveyor that would be easy to clean and maintain.

Riley Samari is Recipient of the 2014 Richard C. Ryan Packaging Education Scholarship

HARTLAND, Wis., (December 8, 2014) — Riley Samari, a student at Alexandria Technical and Community College in Alexandria, Minnesota, is the recipient of the 2014 Richard C. Ryan Packaging Education Scholarship, funded by Dorner Mfg. Corp. 

This scholarship, awarded to a student enrolled in a two- or four-year program at any of PMMI’s partner schools, was established in honor of Richard Ryan, the former president and CEO of Dorner, who passed away suddenly in September 2012.  Ryan was a member of the PMMI Board of Directors and encouraged lifelong learning. His commitment to education inspired the creation of this memorial scholarship.

Bern McPheely, Member of Dorner’s Board of Directors, Inducted into the 2014 Packaging Hall of Fame


HARTLAND, Wis., (December 3, 2014) — Dorner Mfg. would like to congratulate Bern McPheely, a member of Dorner’s Board of Directors, on being inducted into the Packaging Hall of Fame Class of 2014.

McPheely began his career in 1975, working as a trade specialist for the U.S. Department of Commerce. Two years later he joined Hartness International, an automation solutions provider, where he held a variety of executive-level positions for more than 30 years.
