This edition of Dorner Advantage News includes two examples of smart
conveyor solutions improving safety and productivity for customers.
Getting Rid of Contaminated Food
By AJ Naber

An essential part of any food inspection process is the ability to quickly and effectively remove any questionable product from the process flow. A reject system can be quite basic (stop on detect) or may involve a more complex pusher mechanism or retracting tail.
Dorner engineers were recently put to the test after receiving an order from a leading metal detection equipment manufacturer. The unique aspect of this order was the call for a retractable tail. The goal being, as always, to separate reject product from the process flow. Watch the video of our solution on YouTube.

Lift Gate Provides Access, Safety
By Luke Metzinger

As a Dorner customer applications engineer, one of the most important parts of my job is to ensure all our conveyor systems are designed to meet the highest standards of safety.
Applications that call for direct employee interaction are of special concern. That’s why in areas of heavy foot traffic in and around processing lines, lift gate conveyors are often an ideal solution.
Dorner’s lift gate conveyors are built so that one section of the conveyor can be lifted, much like a drawbridge, allowing safe passage for employees to enter their work area. After employees safely pass through, the conveyor is lowered, latched in place and resumes operation.
