Meeting A Bakery “Knead” … Conveying Convenience!
Every time the bakery started up a different production line (bread, buns, or donuts), they needed to wheel a conveyor system into place. Not only did this complicated day-to-day operations, there were significant issues with both sanitation and safety.
The wheels were unsafe, conveyors could tip, and employees could trip over the conveyors while working within a confined space.
Sanitation was also an issue. The bakery was unable to clean the belt or pop up the end rollers. And the conveyor was fabricated from difficult-to-clean galvanized steel.
Rising Above
It was clear that the bakery needed to replace their conveyor, and they selected Dorner AquaPruf 7600 series equipment. Dorner was chosen because of timely delivery and a balanced use of automation technology. Another factor was for the ability to attach the conveyors to the ceiling, which provides an uncluttered, safe workspace with a clear view of the processing area.
Saving Time Means Saving Dough
The new AquaPruf conveyors reduced daily cleaning time from 45 minutes to 10 minutes. To feed two different processing areas, employees can reverse belt directions with the flip of a switch. And most important, the bakery was able to remove this item from the USDA action item list!
No Challenge Is Too Big For Dorner
Dorner launched the biggest Qwik Series Z-Frame ever in early October. This behemoth 55’ long conveyor which is 22” wide, went right to work moving heavy one-gallon bottles up a 25 degree incline! It’s a big job, but Dorner proves equal to the challenge.
New Growth, New Leaders!
Dorner continues to invest in the development of its industry-leading aluminum conveyor products, and there has been strong growth for the company’s AquaPruf™ line of stainless steel conveyors as well.
To help sustain this growth, the company recently announced several key leadership appointments.
Scott Lucas is now Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Glenn Schulz has been named Vice President of Engineering and Project Management and Todd Schlosser has been appointed Director of Operations for the company.
In addition to their new day-to-day responsibilities, Scott will now spearhead all business activities for the company’s AquaPruf products, and Glenn will oversee Dorner’s industrial product offerings.
“Our growing AquaPruf conveyor line has enabled us to expand our sales, engineering and development staff to support this growing business,” said Rich Ryan, Dorner’s chief operating officer.
In a related move, the Autologik/Dorner systems business has been integrated within Dorner Mfg., Rich Ryan explains. “We believe that focusing these resources on the key conveyor and conveyor system business will accelerate our growth and allow us to continue to push product innovation.”
