Over 275 processing and packaging professionals from throughout North America toured Dorner Mfg. last week as part of the conveyor company co-hosting PMMI’s Annual Meeting, Sept. 19-21, in Milwaukee.
Dorner, a 16-year member of PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, landed the honor of co-hosting the event along with KHS USA, a filling and packaging company located in Waukesha, Wisconsin. PMMI is a trade association comprised of more than 700 packaging-related member companies throughout North America.
On Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 20, attendees toured Dorner, receiving a first-hand view of how the company designs and builds its low profile conveyor systems for the packaging, food, automation and other industries. The tour included Dorner’s new 25,000 square-foot expansion of its manufacturing facilities; a step-by-step process of how Dorner builds its conveyors using cellular principles; demonstrations of Dorner’s belting capabilities and other areas of the company.
“Many of these industry professionals who toured Dorner are customers of ours, so it was really great to be able to show them the level of engineering and precision that went into their conveyor systems,” said Matt Jones, Vice President – Sales & Marketing, and PMMI Industry Relations Committee Member. “It was a great honor for Dorner to co-host PMMI’s Annual Meeting, and we look forward to seeing everyone again later this year at PACK EXPO in Chicago.”
Hosting the Annual Meeting was the culmination of over 16 years of membership in the association. Rich Ryan, Dorner’s former President and CEO as well as a PMMI board member was committed to hosting the Annual Meeting. Prior to his passing, Ryan set the wheels in motion to host this event and the leadership team at Dorner has worked hard to achieve this goal.
Hosting PMMI’s Annual Meeting was just one of many milestones celebrated by Dorner in 2016. These included launching the redesign of its best-selling 2200 Series conveyor platform; expanding its facilities with the opening of a new 25,000 square-foot expansion, and most notably, celebrating its 50th anniversary in business.
