Dorner’s 2200 Series Precision Move Pallet Systems are innovative, modular, dual belt conveyor pallet systems for assembly automation.
In this application, the pallet system is providing product flow between the customer’s machines without the need for operator intervention. The pallets are directed and tracked from machine to machine via unique RFID chips embedded in each pallet. When a pallet reaches a decision point the RFID reader automatically identifies the pallet and directs the pallet to the proper machine and operator location.
The Vertical Transfer Unit in the center is used to transport pallets between the upper and lower levels of the system. The Pallets are moved onto and off of the vertical transfer unit using the lift and transfer module which can be used to change product orientation. Currently, the customer’s product is manually clamped to the Dorner pallet but a future design will incorporate an automatic pallet locking and unlocking station.
The main highway of this system is elevated overhead, allowing clear floor space for other equipment and operator work areas. The pallets are designed to accommodate an oddly shaped product that can’t be moved with a traditional conveyor. And because the pallet bases are identical, it allows for easy conveyance of the customer product.
The lift and transfer units are located on both the upper and lower levels of the system The vertical transfer unit brings the pallet down to floor level allowing for a robot pick or operator intervention. This system has six machine interface points.
Like all of Dorner’s conveyors, the 2200 Precision Move Pallet Systems are built-to-order, to your exact specifications.
